Clean Cuts With Laser Cutting

Our advanced laser machines burn/vaporize the material, resulting in very clean edges without burrs or mechanical stress. Low risk of warping or distortion as it is a non-contact process – laser cutting does not put physical stress or friction forces on the material.

Automation. Scalable. Highly Precise.

laser cutting(1)

DEK's laser cutting process creates clean, smoothed edges that typically don't require secondary finishing. Parts are cut rapidly while minimizing material waste.

We use cutting-edge manufacturing technologies to produce top-quality components. This includes having outstanding laser cutting capability. Laser cutting heats up the target material to cut it, rather than using mechanical means like blades. This enables very precise, clean cuts with minimal impact force on the surrounding material. We have multiple advanced fiber laser cutting systems that can cut thick and thin metals with incredible precision tolerances down to ±0.005 mm. We can laser cut steel, aluminum, copper, brass, and more, as we have a large inventory of materials.

Our engineering team works closely with customers to optimize their specific application's laser cutting speeds and efficiency. We can produce both prototyping one-offs, as well as higher volume production runs with high consistency.

Our Highlights

Automation

DEK has a fully automated process that can efficiently run unattended once the machine is set up and programmed. No manual labor is needed during the actual cutting.

Scalable

Our laser cutting machines range greatly in size and power levels, from small desktop models to large industrial-scale cutters for huge parts.

Highly Precise

We can make extremely precise cuts, usually down to a tolerance of about ±0.005 mm. No need to worry about very intricate and detailed cutting patterns.

TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

Know More About Laser Cutting

What is Laser Cutting?

Laser cutting is a manufacturing process that utilizes a powerful, focused laser beam to cut through the material. The laser is directed precisely along the desired cut path to melt, burn, or vaporize the material. Industrial laser cutters use high-power lasers under computer numerical control (CNC) that follow programmed cutting patterns. Laser cutters can process metals, plastics, wood, glass, fabrics, rubber, and more. The laser beam heats up and cuts through the material without mechanical blades or abrasion, enabling clean and accurate cuts. Tighter laser focusing and higher power levels allow cutting thicker pieces in more intensive production applications.

FAQ

Laser Cutting Buying FAQs

Laser cutting is an extremely effective fabrication process enabling high precision, narrow kerf cuts in metals, plastics, and other materials at high production rates. Lasers have precision unmatched by other cutting options.
Lasers are ideal for cutting complex or delicate parts because they melt, vaporize, or burn away material. They can also join some metals through welding, bonding similar metals using intense laser energy to melt and re-fuse metal together.
Laser cutting is slower than other cutting technologies for much thicker sections. Process costs are higher than alternatives like plasma due to safety, maintenance, energy use, and upfront capital costs. Lasers also leave heat-affected zones, which may require secondary processing for some aesthetics.
CO2 and fiber lasers are best for cutting, offering high powers with flexible laser beam delivery. Fiber lasers are newer and preferred as they are more energy efficient, low maintenance, and offer tool-less focal length changes needed for different materials.
We offer high precision laser cutting for metals, including stainless steel, mild steel, aluminum, brass, copper in sheet, plate, tube/pipe forms. Also supports acrylics, woods, plastics like delrin.
Standard lead times run 3-7 business days on average, but rush services may also be possible depending on current shop loading and order requirements.
