CNC Machining PEI
A material that can maintain mechanical properties even in harsh conditions. PEI is best for electronic housings, connectors, electrical insulators, structural parts, and more.
introduction
PEI Materials in CNC Machining
PEI is a strong plastic synthesized through a polycondensation reaction involving bisphenol-A dianhydride and m-phenylene diamine.
This involves careful control to get the right structure and weight. Once the PEI polymer is synthesized, it can be processed using various manufacturing techniques, such as injection molding, extrusion, or compression molding. Moreover, PEI can be CNC machined, too. DEK uses the latest technology and advanced CNC machines to precisely cut and shape the material based on a digital design. This process is commonly used in manufacturing for producing intricate and custom parts with tight tolerances. The choice of processing method depends on the desired final product.

TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW
Basic Knowledge of PEI
What is PEI?
PEI, or Polyetherimide, belongs to the family of amorphous, high-performance polymers. It is a member of the polyimide family that can withstand continuous use at elevated temperatures, typically up to around 180°C (356°F). PEI monomer has the molecular formula C37H24O6N2 and a molecular weight of 592.61 g/mol.
PEI has excellent mechanical strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability. It maintains these properties even at high temperatures. It has good resistance to a wide range of chemicals, including many solvents and acids. Additionally, this material has excellent electrical insulation properties and is flame-resistant.
