introduction

Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled in CNC Machining and Injection molding

Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled part

Nylon 6, 30% glass-filled, is a type of composite material that combines nylon 6 polymer with 30% glass fiber reinforcement.

Compared to unfilled nylon, this material exhibits improved strength, stiffness, and dimensional stability. It can also enhance other properties, such as heat resistance and resistance to wear and abrasion. Due to the presence of glass fibers, the material is abrasive and can cause more wear on cutting tools. Therefore, we use tools made of materials that can withstand abrasiveness, such as carbide or polycrystalline diamond (PCD). Glass-filled materials may require lower speeds to prevent excessive tool wear, so we adjust the cutting speed and feed rates to optimize the machining process.

Glass-filled materials can generate a significant amount of dust during machining.  We implement an effective dust collection system to maintain a clean working environment and protect both the machine and the operators. After machining, we inspect the finished parts for any signs of tool wear, surface defects, or dimensional inaccuracies. Additional post-processing steps, such as polishing, may be required depending on the application and desired surface finish.

FAQ

Machining Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled Buying FAQ

Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled is typically more rigid than unfilled nylon due to the addition of glass fibers. While it still retains some ductility, the presence of glass fillers tends to reduce overall flexibility.
Generally, Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled exhibits low porosity, as the glass fillers help improve the material's overall density and reduce the likelihood of porosity. However, the manufacturing process and conditions can influence the specific porosity.
The flexural strength of Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled is typically higher than that of unfilled nylon due to the reinforcement provided by the glass fibers.
Nylon 6 30% Glass Filled generally exhibits good creep resistance, meaning it can withstand prolonged exposure to constant stress or load without undergoing significant deformation. The glass fillers contribute to the material's overall dimensional stability under load.
